Removing Barriers. Unlocking Potential.
GrappleSeed plants the seed of grappling — rooted in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and extending to wrestling, judo, and beyond — in communities where financial and logistical barriers keep youth off the mat.
Our Mission
GrappleSeed is a nonprofit dedicated to making grappling arts accessible to youth who face financial or logistical barriers. While our deepest roots are in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — the art we know best — we embrace all grappling disciplines, including wrestling and judo, as equally powerful tools for youth development.
We believe that consistent training on the mat builds life skills that carry far beyond it:
Discipline and focus
Confidence and self-esteem
Mental resilience
Emotional control
Respect and accountability
Perseverance under pressure
Our mission is simple: remove barriers and unlock potential — one athlete at a time.

How We Help
We reach youth through two complementary programs — one that brings grappling directly to the community, and one that connects kids to established schools when we can't be there ourselves.
Where we can build a presence, we develop and fund completely free, ongoing grappling programs at community centers and schools. Every dollar raised goes directly toward making these programs a reality.
In areas where we can't yet operate our own program, we sponsor youth directly at vetted, partner grappling academies — covering every cost so nothing stands between a kid and the mat.
Our focus is not just getting kids on the mat — it's keeping them there.

Why Grappling?
Rooted in BJJ. Open to all grappling arts.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is our foundation — it's the art we know and love best, and the one we build our programs around. But the lessons grappling teaches transcend any single discipline. Whether on a BJJ mat, a wrestling room, or a judo dojo, students learn to problem-solve under pressure, stay calm in adversity, and persist through challenge.
Composure under pressure and adversity
Growth through discipline, repetition, and effort
Respect for others while building real self-confidence
Improved behavior, focus, and academic engagement
Greater self-belief and emotional regulation
Stronger decision-making and conflict resolution
Who We Serve
We serve youth from underserved and underrepresented communities who face financial, social, or logistical barriers to participation in structured grappling programs.
Every youth deserves access regardless of their zip code or family income
Positive, structured learning spaces led by qualified, vetted instructors
Ongoing programs and mentorship — not one-time events
How We Raise Funds
GrappleSeed is funded entirely through donations and community fundraising events — all rooted in the grappling world we love.
Every contribution goes straight to program costs — equipment, uniforms, instructors, and facility fees.
Competitive events where entry fees and sponsorships directly fund our programs.
Open training events that bring the grappling community together and raise awareness and funds.
We set up at grappling events to connect with the community and grow our donor and partner base.
